The Young Workers Committee

The COPE Ontario Young Workers Committee was rebuilt from scratch in April of 2024. In the months that followed, the Committee grew to over twenty members with representation from over seven locals. The Committee has had a number of wins in less than a year, including the creation of its Terms of Reference (effective as of February 19, 2025), organizing and executing the first ever COYS (COPE Ontario Young Workers Symposium) on March 21, 2025, and developing and sharing critical information about the importance of combatting the Conservative Government through voting, ahead of the 2025 Provincial Election.

The Committee meets on a monthly basis, a minimum of seven times a year, excluding the months of July, August, and December to accommodate the Summer and Winter holiday breaks.

Meetings give Young Workers the space to share ideas for events and projects, stay connected with each other, discuss areas of needed growth and improvement in our union, and brainstorm ideas to organize and combat right-wing values and alarming privatisation efforts, as well as Employer union busting!
