The provincial government of Ontario has commenced the most aggressive and radical health care restructuring that Ontario has ever experienced. This restructuring will result in the number of Public Health Units being decreased from thirty-five (35) to ten (10). The Ford government has proposed a 27% or $200 million per year reduction of provincial funding for public health. This reduction in the number of public health units puts the health of Ontarians at risk. There has been no public consultation on this major change to public health. Click to read complete COPE Ontario September Statement.
